Question Paper Analysis for Social Science Exam Class 10 CBSE 2024

The Central Board of Secondary Education has successfully conducted the CBSE Class 10 exam for Social Science today (7th March 2024). The exam was held at 7240 exam centers across the country and 26 countries abroad for three hours (10.30 AM to 1.30 PM). The students were advised to reach the exam centers half an hour before the commencement of the exam.

The complete Social Science paper was conducted for a maximum of 80 marks divided into six parts – A, B, C, D, E, and F and the total number of questions was 37.

CBSE Class 10th Social Science Board Exam Analysis From MTG

CBSE Class 10 Social Science paper was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today at various examination centres across India. The paper was held for three hours starting from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Social Science is an important subject for those aspiring to appear for competitive exams in the future or pursue Arts in class 11th. This subject is further divided into four subparts- History, Geography, Civics, and Economics.

The paper was divided into six sections- Section A, B, C, D, E and F with F containing the map skill-based questions. As per our discernment after meticulous observation of the CBSE Social Science paper, the paper was found to be easy to moderate and most of the questions were straight from the prescribed syllabus and NCERT textbooks. Except few questions that required critical thinking, the paper was easy and well balanced with competency-based questions as per those given in CBSE official sample paper.

The questions were straightforward and students were able to finish it on time. The paper contained questions covering all sections of the syllabus. The paper was also well-structured with clear instructions and easy to understand language.

In Section C there were some indirect questions which expected learner to have thorough knowledge of the topics as well as subtopics with a detailed understanding of the concepts. Majority of questions were easy to moderate and required critical and logical thinking.  Most of the questions could be solved by any student having in-depth knowledge of the NCERT textbook.

Some Multiple-Choice Questions were concept based. The questions were of easy to moderate level. The Assertion and Reason type questions were mostly based on the conceptual understanding. An in-depth knowledge of the text was required to answer these questions.

The most time-consuming section was Section D as it contains descriptive type questions. All the questions in the paper were from the latest CBSE 10th Social Science syllabus. The questions were framed in a manner to test the knowledge of the student.

Over all the paper was easy to average as far as difficulty level was concerned with a balanced approach for all kinds of students. The paper aimed to test the student’s knowledge and understanding of the prescribed text, their critical thinking skills and their ability to articulate their thoughts coherently.

The Class 10 Social Science Exam Paper Was “Easy to Moderate”

The class 10 students who were emerging out of the Examination centres seemed happy as the Social Science paper was easy and was based on the CBSE syllabi, a student with an in-depth knowledge of the Social Science syllabus could do well in the CBSE Social Science exam.

A student commented that the exam was easy but lengthy, the questions were familiar but there wasn’t enough time to complete the paper.

Overall, The Social Science Paper Was Weighted As “Easy to Moderate”

Another teacher said that the paper was easy and nothing was out of the syllabus, if students focused on the core material, they would be able to perform well.

A PGT teacher stated that the paper was easy to moderate, there were questions with critical language which could be attempted easily if understood carefully. Students with sound knowledge of NCERT will be able to score good marks in the exam.

According to the poll conducted on the official Twitter page of MTG, 40% of students agreed that the exam was moderate, 0% of students voted the exam paper seemed tough whereas 60% of students even voted that the paper was easy.

Final Words

One more exam of the 10th CBSE curriculum is concluded, the students are suggested to move on further and prepare for the upcoming exams! The next exam is of Mathematics which is a very important subject for non-medical students, scheduled to be held on 11th March 2024.
