22 Lakh Registrations: JEE Main Surpasses NEET as Country’s Largest UG Exam

After the pandemic era, many changes have been observed in the education system. One major and favorable change (for students) is the conduct of JEE Main exam in 4 cycles. JEE Main has become a completely computer-based exam.

Registrations for JEE Main are recently closed and nearly 22 lakh students registered for it. This number is twice the number of students who registered for JEE Main in 2020. NEET notification is not out yet but, JEE Main 2021 registration count is nearly 22 lakh and it surpasses the NEET 2020 as the largest UG exam in the country.

JEE Main 2021 is going to be the country’s biggest computer-based online exam. Let’s have a look at the factors which contributed to this sweeping surge in the registration count of JEE Main.

Facts behind JEE Main 2021 exam – record registrations:

  1. JEE Main replaced the UPSEE exam for admissions to AKTU (A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University), adding up to the number of registrations.
  2. 200 Technical institutes from UP are taking its admissions through JEE Main 2021.
  3. More than 10 languages have been added to JEE Main 2021 exam for the students. This increased the number of state students opting to attempt JEE Main 2021.
  4. Nearly 2.2 lakh candidates appeared from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
  5. A total of 149621 candidates have opted to appear for the exam in Indian languages. Nearly half of this value has opted for Hindi Languages.
  6. A total of 44094 and 24841 candidates will appear in Gujarati and Bengali Languages respectively.
  7. JEE Main’s first cycle of exams will be held in February and nearly 6.6 lakh students registered for it.

This year, many colleges across the country take up their admission process based on JEE Main scores. There are many reasons why JEE Main recorded the highest number of registration for the year 2021. Students have to prepare well for the JEE Main 2021 as the competition is high.
