NEET has become the most important exam for Medical aspirants. The popularity of the NEET exam is increasing year by year. This year, a total of 15,93,452 lakh candidates have applied for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2020. There has been a slight rise of 4.87 per cent or 74,083 candidates from last year. This increase was expected as NEET has been made mandatory for admission to AIIMS and JIPMER also.

In 2019, for the first time, NEET registrations were closed at a figure above 15 Lakhs. This was a striking increase of 14.82 percent as compared to 2018. This hike was cited to the new rule mandating NEET for Indian students aspiring to study medicine abroad.

A surprising hike of candidates has been found in the number of applications received from Jammu & Kashmir students, in spite of having the internet restrictions. As the students over there facing the Internet breakdown, NTA had released offline application form and set up nodal centers for NEET 2020. As a result, a total of 33,357 candidates got registered from J&K — a rise from 26,595 applications for NEET 2019. Those who are appearing for the first time must take care for these 21 super smart tips

As per the report published in Indian Express, maximum applications are received from Maharashtra with 2.28 lakh candidates with second largest applications from the state of Uttar Pradesh with 1.54 candidates. Other states with most registrations are Karnataka with 1.19 lakh applications followed by Tamil Nadu and Kerala with 1.17 and 1.16 lakh candidates, respectively.

NCERT at Your Fingertips is made available in Hindi especially for candidates opting Hindi as a medium of language in NEET 2020.

The least number of applications this year are from Lakshadweep with 183 registrations followed by Daman and Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands with 707 and 800 applications, respectively.

NEET 2020 forms were released on Dec 1st and the registration process was closed on 31st December 2019. NTA on December 31, 2019, had also extended the last date to fill the application form to January 6, 2020.

The date of correction of particulars in the online application form remains the same, i.e. from January 15 to January 31 (up to 11.50 pm).

The NEET (UG) – 2020 will be conducted on Sunday, the 03 May, 2020.

NEET UG entrance examination is conducted for admission to approx 76,928 MBBS, 26,99 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, 525 BVSc, 1205 AIIMS and 200 JIPMER MBBS seats in government, private, deemed/central universities, 15 AIIMS and 2 JIPMER institutes across India.
