CBSE to Cancel or Postpone Board Exams: Latest Updates

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) made a fresh statement after a frequent rise in demand of cancellation or postponement of CBSE Class X & XII board exams. There is a significant rise in COVID 19 cases in the last 2 weeks. This raised the concern of teachers, parents and students about safety of students. Many political leaders and activist are demanding cancellation of the upcoming CBSE board exams.

Amid this CBSE Board issued a fresh statement regarding CBSE Board exams. CBSE stated that the board will be with the students throughout the exams. Letโ€™s have a look at the statement given by CBSE controller of Exam.

CBSE controller of exam Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj stated that the number of exam centres has been increased this year from 5000 to 7000 and strict COVID-19 protocols will be followed at all centres to ensure the safety of students across the country.

While addressing a session โ€œCBSE Board Examinations โ€“ Demystifiedโ€ at an online conference organised by the SAI International Education Group, Dr Bhardwaj said that the CBSE will not leave any stone unturned for the students. โ€œFor students, focus on your studies, do not listen to any rumour and false pretence,โ€ he advised.

He said, โ€œIt is so difficult for you all, itโ€™s a risk to send them to the examination, but kindly continue to support us. Ensure that your child follows all the given precautionary measures. Teachers, our most important stakeholders, we cannot do anything without your support, and it is known to me that they are working extremely hard. My sincere request to them is to devote time sincerely in the evaluation process and help us declare the results as soon as possible.โ€

Online petition by one lakh students

Keeping coronavirus pandemic in view, over one lakh students of classes 10 and 12 have signed an online petition urging the government to either cancel board exams scheduled to be held in May or conduct them in online mode. For the past one week, the hashtag โ€œcancelboardexams2021โ€ has been trending on Twitter.

Delhi Government asks schools to postpone practical till April 20

In view of surge in COVID19 cases Delhi government has issued an advisory to all the schools in the Delhi capital, requesting them to postpone the CBSE board exam practical till 20th April 2021. all the colleges and coaching centres in the city will also be shut down for the time being due to the current pandemic situation in the national capital.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, โ€œWe have advised schools to consult with their external examiners and postpone the remaining CBSE class 10 and 12 practical exams for a while. Only one or two practical exams are left in a majority of schools and we have advised them to reschedule these after April 20.โ€

Other Political Leaders and Activist

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have come forward in support of the students who are appealing for the cancellation of the exams. Priyanka Gandhi has said that the conduction of offline exams amid the Covid-19 surge is unfair for the students.

Actor Sonu Sood also took to Twitter and said, โ€œOn the behalf of students, I want to put in a request. CBSE and board exams are going to be held offline; I do not think the students are ready to sit for the exams amid the prevailing circumstances.”

Maharashtra Govt has decided to rescheduled the States Boards exam, which were to held in this month. After the meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the State school Education Minister Varsha Gaikwadhas decided that class 12 exams will be scheduled in May and for class 10 in June.

All these news are creating anxiety among the students. We advise students not to lose the focus from there studies.ย  Exams will happen on time or may be at postponed date. Hence, they should be prepared for any situation.ย  Keep attempting the model test papers to be in habit of taking exam.
