CBSE CLASS 10 mathematics analysis

The CBSE Class 10 Mathematics Exam 2026 was conducted on February 17, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The exam adhered to the NCERT syllabus and was offered in the Mathematics Standard (041) format. This yearโ€™s examination proved to be challenging for many students, with difficulties emerging in time management and conceptual understanding, particularly in solving application-based questions.

Exam Overview

Students generally found the exam to be both lengthy and difficult. The questions required a deeper level of conceptual understanding, particularly in areas such as geometry and case-based problems. These questions demanded students to think critically and apply their knowledge rather than simply recall formulas. Despite these challenges, the exam adhered strictly to the NCERT syllabus, ensuring that the content was well within the prescribed curriculum. However, proper conceptual clarity and effective time management were crucial to scoring well this year.

Difficulty Level and Feedback

One of the most significant challenges faced by students was the time constraint. The exam required thorough understanding and application of concepts, making it difficult for students to manage the allotted time effectively.

Additionally, students noted that the case-based questions demanded a more analytical approach, requiring not only theoretical knowledge but also the ability to apply this knowledge to practical scenarios.

While the questions were based strictly on NCERT content, the level of application and depth in the questions was higher than expected. Many students felt that the internal choices in each section were helpful, but for average students, the overall difficulty level still felt elevated.

Exam Difficulty Level: Section-Wise Analysis

  • Overall Difficulty:ย  Moderate to Difficult
  • MCQs & Assertion-Reason Questions: Mostly easy and NCERT and NCERT Exemplar-based.
  • 3-Mark and 5-Mark Questions: moderate and lengthy due to multi-step problem-solving.
  • Case Study Questions:ย  Easy but time-consuming. While few are tricky.
