As the days are passing, more and more updates about CUET are coming in and surprising students. Everyone knows that the registrations for CUET UG 2022 have closed recently. The UGC Chairman turned to Twitter to announce that more than 11 lakh students have enrolled for the CUET exam. The dates for the CUET UG 2022 examination will be announced soon, although it is expected to take place in the first week of July 2022. The application period had previously ended on Sunday, May 22. According to the Chairman of the UGC, 11,51,319 individuals applied for the Common University Entrance Test this year. Moreover, over 9 lakh applicants, paid the application fee. Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar shared some other information on Twitter that is spreading shock amongst students. In his tweet, the Chairman said that CUET might be held twice a year. This will assist students in planning and taking the CUET.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the CUET 2022 exam. Some trustworthy sources have stated that, as this year, CUET would be held twice a year beginning in the next academic session, following the completion of class 12 board exams. In order to provide students hope and a better chance of acquiring UG seats, the NTA may be planning to hold CUET twice a year, in accordance with the National Education Policy, NEP 2020. If the schedule is followed, the first CUET exam will be held in June, followed by the second in July. While it is unclear what changes to expect in CUET from next year, it is certain that the exam will continue to be based on the class 12 syllabus.

| The UGC Chairman said “A record 1151319 candidates have registered and 913540 have paid application fee for CUET-UG. Many of them are from remote and rural areas. Students from every state and union territory have applied. Without the burden of scoring very high marks in the range of 99 to 100% in board exams, students can now try for admission in best of the universities through CUET. For students who could not get high board scores, earlier it was not possible to get admission in top universities. But now it is within reach.” |

He further mentioned “The participation of large number of Universities too is very encouraging. In the coming years, more universities are expected to adopt CUET. With the possibility that CUET will be conducted twice in a year, this will further help the students to plan and attempt CUET. Best wishes to all CUET applicants.”
However, the students giving CUET this year might not need to worry about any updates of CUET conducting twice a year. Since the UGC said “To begin with CUET will be conducted once this year but NTA will consider conducting the exam at least twice a year from next session. The entrance exam will not just be limited to Central Universities but also private varsities. Several prominent private universities have indicated that they would like to come on board and admit students through CUET.”
When asked the type of examination and its preparation, he said “The exam will simply not require any coaching so there is no question of it giving push to a coaching culture. The exam will be completely based on class 12 syllabus. Lot of students are getting concerned whether the exam will also have questions from class 11 syllabus. The answer is a clear no”.
In the meantime, the CUET UG 2022 examination dates will be announced soon. The CUET admit card will be available to download through the official website, cuet.samarth.ac.in, as well as the UMANG and DigiLocker apps. “The e-Admit Card would be issued provisionally to the candidates through the NTA website: https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/, subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility conditions and receipt of the prescribed application fee by NTA,” the official notification mentioned.
