AIIMS Preparation Tips From Topper

MTG : Why did you choose medical entrance?
Eliza : Medical is my passion. I want to be a cardiologist and serve the people of my country especially those living in rural areas.

MTG : What exams have you appeared for and what were your ranks in these exams?
Eliza : I majorly prepared for AIIMS and emerged as AIIMS Topper.  I scored 100 percentile in the entrance test for admission to AIIMS. I scored 100 percentage in Biology, 99.94 in Chemistry, 100 in Physics, and 97.87 in GK.

MTG : Any other achievements? Please mention the names of exams and rank.
Eliza : I cleared KVPY, NEET, NSEP, NSEC, NSEB and AIIMS. I got Rank 1 in KVPY and AIIMS.

MTG AIIMS 2018 ExplorerMTG : How did you prepare for NEET and other medical exams?
Eliza : I just followed my teachers of coaching institute and my mentor Rishi sir. He prepared my schedule and
I followed it.

MTG : What basic difference did you find between NEET and AIIMS examinations?
Eliza : NEET is an easy exam which needs speed and accuracy. However, AIIMS is tougher and requires indepth knowledge of whole subject.

MTG : How many hours in a day did you study to prepare for the examination?
Eliza : Apart from classes, I used to spend 7-8 hours a day regularly.

MTG : How much time does one require for serious preparation of this exam?
Eliza : Regular studies for two years is more than sufficient. Students just need to focus while studying. ‘7 hours’ a day is good enough.

MTG : Which subject/topics were you strong/weak at?
Eliza : Physics had been my strength, although I balanced all the three subjects.

NCERT at your fingertips-BiologyMTG : Which Books/Magazines you followed?
Eliza : I went to Lakshya Institute, Patiala for regular class- room program of 2 years. I followed Lakshya study material, NCERT and MTG Objective NCERT at your Fingertips. I also solved previous years’ IIT questions of Physics and Chemistry as suggested by my teachers.

MTG : In your words, what are the components of an ideal preparation plan?
Eliza : Staying happy and calm and working hard regularly is most important.

MTG : What role did the following play in your success?  (a)  Parents    (b) Teachers
Eliza : My parents are my strength. My father inspired me to become a good doctor and help my country.I followed my teachers blindly and always completed the work given by them. My teachers were always there in my ups and downs and kept me going. Lakshya provided me the right environment, exposure and study material. I will always be thankful to them.

MTG : Your family background?
Eliza : My father is Social Science teacher and my mother is a housewife. My brother is pursuing B.Tech from IIT, Delhi.

MTG : Share your hobbies and how often could you pursue them?
Eliza : I used to talk to my friends, play games and watch movie once in a month during my preparation days.

MTG : How have various MTG products like Explorer, Books and Magazines helped you in your preparation?
Eliza : I used to study from AIIMS Explorer and MTG Objective NCERT at your Fingertips (especially for Biology).

MTG : Was this your first attempt?
Eliza : Yes, it was my first attempt.

MTG : What mistake do you regret the most?
Eliza : We always learn from our mistakes. I do not regret any mistake rather I cherish it and learn from it.

MTG : Had you not been selected then what would have been your future plan?
Eliza : If I have not been selected then I would have taken admission in some other top colleges of country like JIPMER or Lady Hardinge.

MTG : What do you think is the secret of your success?
Eliza : My belief in myself and my teachers kept me going. I just followed what my mentor said.

MTG : What advice would you like to give to our readers who are PMT aspirants?
Eliza : There are no shortcuts to success. Keep on working hard and always believe in yourself.
