The high benchmarks of cut-offs in universities such as Delhi University, and the unequal evaluation process of CBSE, ICSE, and State Boards have made admission to various undergraduate courses, an unfair deal for the students. Keeping this in mind, the University Grand Commission in an unexpected move has eliminated the merit-based entrance and has instead introduced a common entrance test for all the universities. Now, all the 56 CUET Universities of India will admit students into various undergraduate programs through Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG 2024), the NTA stated in one of its CUET 2024 notifications.
Apart from the CUET Universities, the University Grant Commission in a letter; has addressed other private, state, and deemed universities to participate and take admission of students based on outcomes of CUET 2024.
