In the current time student life has become too strenuous. This Covid 19 outbreak is an icing on the cake. Due to continuous uncertainties in the school education, exams schedules and online/offline classes students are undergoing a significant amount of stress. To help students come out from this distress condition aroused by Covid 19 Pandemic, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has come up with a new innovative way. CBSE launched a new mobile app ‘Dost for Life’ for students and parents. It is an exclusive psychological counselling app for parents and their children of class 9 to 12 in CBSE-affiliated schools. Parents and students can start using this app for counselling sessions from 10 May onwards.
This new CBSE App will help students and parents of CBSE affiliated schools across the world. Through this application, CBSE Board will conduct live counselling sessions free of cost thrice a week on Monday, Friday, and Wednesday. Every session will be taken by a trained counsellor/Principal. For this app, on invitation of CBSE, 83 volunteers have been nominated. Out of which 66 are in India and 17 located in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Nepal, Oman, Kuwait, Japan and the USA. Major Features of CBSE New App ‘Dost for Life’:
- ‘Dost for Life’ app can be accessed on Google Play store from 10th May 2021.
- Right now, this app is available for android devices only. The board will extend this facility for other phone users in due course of time.
- Students and Parents of CBSE-affiliated schools Class 9 to 12 can access this app.
- In this app, CBSE Board will conduct live counselling sessions free of cost thrice a week on Monday, Friday, and Wednesday.
- Students and parents of CBSE affiliated schools are free to choose any of the two-time slots: 9.30 am to 1.30 pm or 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm and connect through a Chat box as per their convenience.
- The CBSE’s ‘Dost for Life’ application will also include educational material on social, emotional and behavioural issues such as exam anxiety, internet addiction disorder, depression, specific learning disability, substance use disorder, aggression and life skills to sensitise students and masses.
- This all can be accessed at the website cbse.gov.in and the YouTube channel of CBSE.
Aim of this app is to counsel students, provide information on suggestive course guides after 10+2, give tips on mental health and well-being, COVID-19-related protocol and audio-visual messages.It also contains rap songs to calm down the anxiety in students.

CBSE earlier used to conduct tele-counselling which was toll-free. The board claims that the new app will bring “ease, convenience, and utility” for both students and parents in a safe home environment. The app will be launched on Monday – May 10 and will be available to download from Google Playstore for Android devices.
