For Admission at IIITs, NIT Your Class 12 Marks Will Matter from Now On

Preparing for JEE 2023 Exams? Then you need to hear this! Your Class 12 performance will matter to getting into IIIT, CFTI, and NIT now. When finally engineering aspirants started to feel good about IITs not considering the class 12 scores, they brought it back.

IIIT, CFTI, and NIT has decided to bring back the consideration of class 12 marks from now on for the eligibility criteria. Therefore, the pre-pandemic Class 12 performance requirement for admission to IIIT, CFTI, and NIT has been reinstated for the forthcoming academic year.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic’s unpredictability, the IIITs lowered the standards for applicants’ board exam performance back in 2020. The shutdown forced a number of national and state boards to cancel their Class 12 school-leaving exams and substitute other evaluation methods.

According to NTA, the IIIT, CFTI, and NIT have decided to end the relaxation of entrance eligibility requirements based on performance on the Class 12 board exam as a result of the restoration of academic normalcy.

Prior to the pandemic, in order to be guaranteed a seat at an IIIT, CFTI, or NIT, general category applicants with a qualifying JEE (Advanced) rank had to have a Class 12 grade of at least 75%.

During a meeting last month, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) voted to reinstate the pre-pandemic Class 12 requirement. All decisions regarding how the JEE will be conducted are made by the JAB (Advanced). An official announcement has been made and now the prior eligibility is back.

The notice by NTA Read,

For the candidates who qualify for admission in the NITs, IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the Class 12 examination or be in the top 20 percentile in Class 12 examination conducted by respective Boards. For SC / ST candidates, the qualifying marks should be 65% in the Class 12 examination.

The first session of JEE Main exam 2023 is starting from 24th January 2023. All the best and think happy thoughts.
