IEO Class 9 Syllabus (2024) and Exam Pattern – Level 1 and Level 2

The International English Olympiad (IEO) exam conducted by SOF is held annually to evaluate the English language skills of students from classes 1 to 12. By participating in the IEO exam, students can demonstrate their language skills, subject knowledge, and problem-solving abilities. The IEO program aims to assess students’ English skills and help them improve their language abilities through various questions. While the difficulty level of the questions may vary across different classes, the syllabus remains the same as class 9 English. In this article, we will provide a detailed overview of the IEO level 1 and level 2 Syllabus along with the exam pattern for Class 9.

IEO Syllabus and Exam Pattern for Class 9 (2024) Level 1

Students who are preparing for class 9 IEO will be tested on their ability to recognize and use different words and phrases, understand basic grammar rules, and comprehend simple passages.

IEO Level 1 Syllabus for Class 9 (2024)

Topics included in the SOF IEO syllabus level 1  for Class 9 are

Section Topics
Section – 1 Synonyms, Antonyms, Analogies and Spellings, One word, Word order, Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Adverbs, Adjectives, Articles, Prepositions, Conjunctions, Punctuations, Jumbled words, Voices, Concord, Question forms, Tenses, Conditionals, Modals, Reported speech. Collocations, Phrasal verbs, Idioms, Homonyms and homophones, Words related to social cause, Travel, Workplace, etc.
Section – 2 Search for and retrieve information from various text types like Flyers, Classifieds, Dictionaries, etc., Understand information presented in instruction manual format, Message format and others. Acquire broad understanding of and look for specific information in longer texts like editorials, Essays, etc.
Section – 3 Ability to understand situation-based variations in functions like Giving advice, Stating preferences, Discussing probability, Making an offer, etc.
Section – 4 Higher Order Thinking Questions – Syllabus as per Sections 1, 2 and 3.

IEO Level 2 Syllabus for Class 9 (2024)

Topics included in the SOF IEO syllabus level 2 for Class 9 is divided into 3 sections are as below
