JEE Advanced Counselling 2019 Schedule Released – Here’s all you need to know

IIT Roorkee has declared the result of JEE Advanced 2019 on June 14, 2019 in online mode. Congratulation to all JEE Advanced 2019 qualifiers! Now is the time for qualifier to know all about the next step i.e., JoSAA counselling 2019 for admission to top IITs in India. The registration process for JoSAA 2019 has been started from June 16 and go on until June 25, 2019. All the candidates who have qualified JEE Mains and JEE Advanced 2019 and aspiring of admissions in any of the participating institutes have to register for JEE Advanced Counselling 2019. JEE Main candidates will be eligible only for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs while JEE Advanced candidates will be able to apply for all institutes including IITs. Allotment of seats through the JEE Advanced Counselling of JoSAA 2019 will be done as per the merit, preference and category of the candidates.

In total, seven rounds of JoSAA 2019 counselling will be conducted by the authorities along with 2 mock rounds. With the help of mock rounds, candidates will be able to know their chances in their desired colleges based on their rank and preference. Once knowing this, candidates will be able to modify their selected choices of colleges and courses accordingly.

What’s New in JoSAA 2019?

  • Increase of participating institutes from 100 to 107. 2 new IIITs and 5 GFTIS join in 2019 for counselling.
  • Number of seats increase to 38664 across categories and female supernumerary seats in total are 2059
  • Number of EWS seats across all institutes are 2529 excluding 129 EWS PwD seats.
  • EWS seats in IITs are 609, NITs are 1309, IIITs are 290 and GFTIs are 321

JEE Advanced Counselling and Seat Allotment Procedure

The JoSAA 2019 counselling and seat allotment procedure will include the following processes:

  1. Registration:

First of all, candidates have to do the registration by login to the official website, www.josaa.nic.in using their JEE Main 2019 roll number and password. For candidates who have registered for JEE Advanced, then such candidates will have to use their JEE Advanced password to log-in. After log-in, candidates will see all their basic details like, gender, nationality, state code of eligibility contact information etc. Candidates will have to check and reconfirm the details. Apart from contact information, no other personal data can be modified during registration.

  1. Selecting and Locking of Choices:

Once the registration is done, candidates will have to fill their choices of branches and colleges in order of their preference. After selecting their preferred options, the candidates can click on “I agree to lock my choices”. The candidates will have to provide their JEE Main 2019 roll number and password or JEE Advanced password to print out the confirmed choices

  1. Seat Allotment rounds

As soon as the registration and choice-filling process will get complete, JoSAA will release the first seat allotment list. In the same way, there might be six more rounds of seat allotment. The students will be issued seat allotment letter and e-challan for seat acceptance. To confirm a seat, students need to visit the allotted reporting centre.

  1. Seat Acceptance and Payment of Fee

At the time of Seat acceptance, the candidates can choose Freeze, Float and Slide.

  • Freeze: If candidates are satisfied with seat allotted and do not wish to participate in further rounds, they will have to choose this option.
  • Float: In case, candidates need to keep the seat allotted and also wish to upgrade their seat, they must follow this option.
  • Slide: If candidates accept the seat allotted and wish to upgrade the course in the same institute, they will have to stick to this option.
  • Withdraw: If candidates have already accepted the seat, they can withdraw the seat by reporting at the institute allotted before the last round of seat allotment.

In order to confirm the seat, the candidates have to pay the fees through SBI Net Banking or e-Challan. The Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) will be of 45,000 for all candidates expect SC/ ST/ SC-PwD/ ST-PwD/ GEN-PwD/ OBC-NCL-PwD. Remaining candidates have to pay Fees of RS 20,000.

  1. Reporting at Centers

The candidates who have been allotted seats will have to report to their respective reporting centres for document verification. Original and photocopies of the documents should be presented by the candidates. Failure to get the documents verified will lead to the cancellation of admission. Candidates should remember to report to the corresponding reporting centre of their allotted institute.
