NTSE 2020 Exam Date, Admit Card, Syllabus, Pattern, Books and Preparation Guide

NCERT has announced the exam schedule for National Talent Search Exam, NTSE 2020 session. NTSE is one of the most competitive and prestigious scholarship exams in India. It is conducted every year to identify and nurture the talent of class X students. The selected candidates are provided with monetary benefits all through their academic life. The examination is conducted at two levels: Stage-I (at State Level) and Stage-II (at National Level). Each stage of the exam will include two papers i.e., Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The last date for submission of the application form of Stage 1 will be notified by the respective state.

NTSE 2020 Exam Dates

The important dates for NTSE 2019-20 are tabulated below:

Note: Indian Students studying abroad in class 10 can appear directly for Stage II NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure, which is avalable on the NCERT website. Candidates may fill up the Application Form, available on the NCERT website and send to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of previous examination, latest by December 31st, 2019.

NTSE Exam 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must go through the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. A candidate who does not satisfy the eligibility criteria will not be considered for the admission process. Given below is the eligibility criteria for NTSE 2020 exam:

Stage 1 (State/UT level) Eligibility Criteria: 

  • All students of Class X studying in recognized school are eligible to appear for the Stage-I exam, conducted by the States/UTs, in which schools are located. There will be no domicile restriction.
  • The candidates studying from Open and Distance Learning must not be less than 18 years of age at the time of appearing in the scholarship exam. Moreover, they should not be employed (not even part-time jobs) and they should be appearing in Class 10th qualifying examination for the first time.

Stage 2 (National level) Eligibility Criteria:

  • The students who secured at least 80% marks in the state level NTSE can appear for the stage 2 national level exam.
  • All the students who achieve requisite scores at this level automatically qualify for scholarships that are handed over by NCERT.

NTSE 2020 Syllabus

There is no prescribed syllabus for the NTSE exam. However, the questions of NTSE stage 1 and 2 exams are based on class 9 and class 10 levels. NTSE 2020 Examination Pattern

This year for both the levels, the exam will be divided into two papers i.e. Mental Ability Test and Scholastic Aptitude Test. Each will include 100 questions of 100 marks. The duration will be 120 minutes for each paper. The paper will be conducted through offline mode (pen and paper test) only and there will be no negative marking in the examination. The pattern of NTSE 2020 exam is given below:

Note: If there is any change in pattern for stage-II examination then the same will be communicated later on through NCERT website www.ncert.nic.in. Candidates are advised to keep track of updates on NCERT website.

NTSE 2020 Admit Card

NTSE 2020 admit card has been released by various states and UTs in online mode. The stage 1 of NTSE exam is organized by different examination authorities or agencies in different states and union territories. All these agencies have started releasing NTSE Admit Card 2020 for the upcoming talent search examinations on their respective websites. All the candidates who applied for the exam are advised to check and download their e-admit card from their states’ education departments’ website.

Note: NCERT only upload the E-Admit Cards for the second level on its website.

How to Download NTSE Admit Card 2020 for stage 1?

Here are the steps to download NTSE Admit Card 2020 for stage 1:

  • Visit the official website of SCERT of the state/UT
  • Enter the application number and date-of-birth to view and download the admit card of NTSE 2020
  • Check all the details mentioned on the admit card.
  • After verifying details, take a printout of the NTSE admit card 2020 and secure it.

NTSE Admit Card 2020 For Stage 2

The NTSE 2020 Stage 2 Admit Card will be issued only for those students who clear the NTSE Stage 1 exam of the respective states. The Stage 2 Admit Card of NTSE will be issued by the NCERT. Candidates will have to download the NTSE Admit Card for Stage 2 from the official website, ncert.nic.in.

NTSE 2020 Preparation Guide

With just a few days left for the Stage 1 exam, you shouldn’t waste your time at all. You can plan your journey to destination well if you know the starting point and all the essential steps. Since this scholarship exam is conducted by the NCERT, your first step should to finish NCERT books. Follow NCERT textbooks for class 9th and 10th during your preparation for NTSE 2020.
