No Change in Syllabus of NEET and JEE Main Exams 2021, but have more internal choices: Education Ministry

Update on: 20 Jan 2021, 04:55 PM

After a recent webinar of Education Minister, Mr. Ramesh Pohriyal with students and teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya, there has been a buzz about the reduction in the syllabus of major exams like NEET and JEE Mains 2021. But, Education Minister clarified that due to COVID 19 and a 30% reduction in the syllabus of CBSE in the year 2020, there will be more options to answer questions in the upcoming exams like NEET and JEE Mains.

Now in line with JEE Main 2021, NEET 2021 โ€“ the topmost medical entrance exam would also have more internal choices. This is to ensure that the students who prepared on the basis of the reduced syllabus of CBSE and other state boards will not be at a disadvantage. But, there will be no syllabus cut on NEET and JEE Mains 2021 exams.

The official statements of the Education Ministry on NEET 2021

Last Month, Mr. Ramesh Pohriyal said โ€œNTA will come out with the syllabus for competitive examinations after assessment of the existing scenario in various boardsโ€. The NTA then had decided against the reduction of the syllabus of competitive exams and instead announced more internal choice.

This Month statement by the education ministry โ€œThe exact pattern for NEET (UG) 2021 is yet to be announced. However, in view of the reduction of the syllabus by some boards across the country, the NEET (UG) 2021 question paper will also have options on the lines of JEE (Main)โ€.

Education Minister Mr. Ramesh Pohriyal on 18th Jan 2021 in a live webinar with students said โ€œAs the curriculum (for board exams) was cut by 30 percent due to Covid-19, therefore in the upcoming competitive examinations like JEE and NEET this year the candidates will have more options to answer the questionsโ€.
