Education Qualification for WB Police Recruitment

Education criteria for Constable and SI-

Educational Qualification: Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent.

Age Limit:  Minimum- 20 and maximum- 27

Language: The applicant must be able to speak, read and write Bengali Language. However, this provision will not be applicable to the persons who are permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts.

Application fees for Constable-

All categories except Schedule Caste/Scheduled tribe (of West Bengal only)- Rs. 170/-

SC and ST (West Bengal only)- Rs. 20/-

Application fees for SI-

All categories except Schedule Caste/Scheduled tribe (of West Bengal only)- Rs. 270/-

SC and ST (West Bengal only)- Rs. 20/-

WB Police Salary

WB Constable salary pay – Constables & Lady Constables in the Pay Scale of Level-6 in the pay matrix [Rs. 22,700 – Rs. 58,500]

WB SI pay scale- Sub-Inspector/Lady Sub-Inspector of Police (Un-armed Branch) and Sub-Inspector of Police (Armed Branch) in the Pay Scale of Level – 10 in the pay matrix (Rs. 32,100 – Rs. 82,900).

WB Police Constable Selection criteria:

  1. Preliminary Written test: MCQ based 100 objective type questions, carrying 1 mark for each question. Duration of this test will be 1 hour. Question paper will be given into two languages – Bengali and Nepali.
  2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Willing candidates who qualify the written exam will be eligi9ble for physical test.
  3. Physical Efficiency Test:

  4. Final written Examination: 8 MCQ type questions carrying 01 mark each. There will be negative marking for each incorrect answer.

WB Police SI Selection criteria:

  1. Preliminary Examination: General Studies, Logical & analytical reasoning and Arithmetic with full marks of 200 (100 marks in General Studies having 50 questions, 50 marks in Logical & Analytical reasoning having 25 questions and 50 marks in Arithmetic having 25 questions), the duration of the examination being 90 minutes.
  2. Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test: The PMT & PET shall be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board at the venues selected by the Board for the purpose. Only qualified candidates of both PMT & PET shall be eligible to appear in the Final Combined Competitive Examination.
  3. Final Combined Competitive Examination: This will consist of three papers of conventional type of questions
  1. Paper I: General studies and mathematics for 100 marks (50 marks for general studies, 25 marks for logical and analytical reasoning and 25 marks for arithmetic) of 2 hours duration.
  2. Paper II: English of 50 marks of 1 hour duration.
  3. Paper III: Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali of 50 marks of 1 hour duration.
