Since the 12th Board Exams are approaching close, now is the time to revise everything well before the exams. The key to perform well in the exams is being able to study smart and in a proper manner in the last 3 months of preparation time span, so that your efforts translate into performance We have listed here some healthy tips to follow while preparing for the upcoming 12th Board Exams:

  • Do not panic about the exams, just relax and start the revision.
  • Sit in a peaceful place and study. If possible, study at a fix place. This will help to increase your interest and concentration in your studies, and also prevent any distractions.
  • Concentrate on the chapters and topics that you have already completed studying and avoid learning new topics at the eleventh hour. But, at the same time, plan your revision in such a way to cover all the important topics. Those topics are important from which questions of higher marks and more number of time are asked in the Boards. Hence, it is very important to know the weightage given to all the units.   • As per general perception, morning hours is considered the best time to study, but you should begin the revision according to your own body-clock. It could be morning, evening or night hours. Schedule your revision for the difficult topics when you are mental reception is at your best, and the easier ones in the lazy hours.
  • Do not study at a stretch. It is important to take a break before you feel tired and lose your concentration completely.
  • For Class 12th Board Exams, focus on NCERT Textbooks. NCERT textbooks and NCERT exemplar provide thorough knowledge of the basics and once you learn them, you may also solve other reference books as well. Solve each and every question of NCERT textbooks. 
  • Do not ignore diagrams, tables or graphs given in your textbooks as questions can be asked on any chapter from the textbook. Solve questions derived from NCERT content to make your concepts vivid clear. Refer to Objective NCERT at Your Fingertips Question Bank and get expertise in NCERT.
  • Solve previous year’s question papers. About 75% of the questions in the Board Exams are covered from previous year’s question papers and the Sample papers released by the Board in the same year. So, it is always good to revise by solving/practicing these papers to get familiarised with the type and latest pattern of questions in the Boards.

While preparing for your Board exams, it is necessary to take care of your health too. A healthy body with a healthy mind helps to increase concentration during your studies, and also enables to complete the syllabus within the available time without putting a lot of efforts. Read the following health tips during the exam time:

Health tips before exam session:

  • Students have a habit of not sleeping properly, especially the nights before the exam. They should instead sleep early every night, get up early in the morning, and have a proper breakfast and then study.
  • Eat light and take small meals in every 3-4 hours during day time. Do not eat too spicy and heavy food, and avoid junk food that may cause indigestion or any other health problems during exam time.
  • Take more of liquid at regular intervals. Drink sufficient water, fruit juice & a glass of milk daily.
  • Avoid intake of too much coffee and tea during study time can upset our body system.
  • Stay positive and keep away any negative thought coming into your mind before the exams. Believe in yourself that you have worked really hard and prepared well for your exams. Above everything, remember exams and marks are temporary but education with good understanding and purpose is permanent. Educate yourself, but not in the fear of marks and results.

It is very common to see students getting nervous and tensed before their exams. Here are some Tips to handle situation during the exam:

  • On receiving the question paper read it carefully and mark the questions which you can answer confidently.
  • Do not waste much time over repeated attempts to solve the questions which you think you don’t know how to answer.
  • Answer all the known questions first, as it will save your time and prevent you from leaving them unanswered during the last minutes of the exam duration. Also, it will create an impression to the examiner correcting your paper that you know the concepts very well.
  • Answer all the difficult and complex questions during the middle of the examination when you reach at a comfortable position after answering the easier ones. Starting with a difficult question and then struggling to solve it may bring down your motivation and you may lose your concentration.
  • Highlight or underline the important points in your answers to score good marks. At times, these points remain unnoticed by the examiner due to bad handwriting or any other reason, and you may lose marks even after writing the correct answer. Highlighting will make the key points visible to the examiner.
  • A neat presentable answer sheet is an impressive way to score good marks. Try to draw neat diagrams (wherever possible) and label them correctly.
  • Spend time solving the questions according to the marks allotted to them. Do not spend more than 20-25 minutes on 1-mark questions, 50 -60 minutes on 2&3 marks questions and 60-70 minutes on 5-marks questions.
  • Write the answers within the word limits asked for. Too much lengthy answer may put a negative impact.
  • Do revise the solutions at the end. If possible, do not leave any question unanswered since there is no negative marking in Board exams.
