NTA to Conduct Common Entrance Test for 15 Central Universities from 2020

The National Testing Agency, NTA is all set to conduct a common entrance test (CET) for 15 central universities of the country from 2020 – 2021 academic session. The universities will include from Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka among others. The HRD ministry is likely to give a green signal to the proposal today. NTA is also in talks with other central universities as well to join the common test.

What’s New In Central Universities Common Entrance Test, CUCET 2020

Till last year, Central Universities Common Entrance Test, CUCET was conducted by the University of Rajasthan. This is the first time NTA will be conducting the entrance test. However, the Agency has already conducted the computer-based entrance test for Delhi University and JNU for limited courses this year.

As per the reports, the common entrance test for the 15 central universities for the 2020-21 academic session will take place in May 2020. The test will be conducted for around 50 undergraduate courses, more than 170 graduate programs and more than 100 MPhil and doctorate.

A senior HRD official while talking to media said, “NTA has the capacity and capability as the final aim is to make it a premium testing agency. It has already delivered glitchfree, transparent and secure testing for a number of critical entrance exams such JEE (Main), NEET, UGC-NET, DU and JNU entrance tests.
