NTA (National Testing Agency) conduct Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) – Main exam every year to offer admission in BE/BTech, BPlan and BArch courses at the IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology), NITs (National Institute of Technology) and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) across the country.
In 2020, JEE Main exam was cancelled twice due to COVID19 pandemic. But, a big build out is seen in JEE Main 2021 exam by the government to help JEE candidates attempt the exam. Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal in his recent live interaction with students, teachers and parents declared certain major developments and changes in JEE Main 2021 exam pattern.
JEE Main 2021 Latest Updates:
- JEE Main 2021 Exam is now 4 times in a year – Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said, “The suggestion of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main 2021 to be held four times in a year will be examined positively, beginning in the end of February, thereafter in March, April and May-2021, for three to four days during each time,”. If this happens then JEE Main 2021 exam will be held 4 times in a year starting from February, then in March, April and May. This is to ensure that JEE candidates cannot miss out the opportunities due to COVID19 situations or clash of dates with other exams.
- Students have the option to apply for one or all the 4 JEE Main 2021 exams. The numbers of attempts are not limited for this year exam. The best score of JEE Main will be considered to calculate JEE Main 2021 rank.
- No Change in JEE Main 2021 Syllabus but, JEE Main 2021 Question Paper Format is changed – Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal clarified that the syllabus for JEE Main 2021 will remain the same with no reduction, but a change in exam pattern is done. All Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2021 will have to attempt 75 questions out of 90 or 25 out of 30 in each section of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. This the major change done by ministry to accommodate the reduced syllabus of class XI & XII.
- JEE Main 2021 will be held in more regional languages – JEE Main 2021 will be held in 13 languages with choices to help students understand questions well. These languages are Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. The regional language options will be available only in respective states. Only English, Hindi and Urdu option would be available at all examination centres across India.
- National Testing Agency (NTA) released the JEE Main 2021 Notification on nta.nic.in. – The February JEE Main 2021 exam notification is released on the official website of JEE Main. (Check details)
