How a 21-Year-Old Boy with Cerebral Palsy Crack JEE Main Exam?

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’! This is proved by a boy in West Bengal.

Tuhin Dey, a 21 year old boy became the motivation for lakhs of students this year. Despite having cerebral palsy, he cleared JEE Main 2020 exam with 438 rank. Tuhin Dey is a resident of Midnapore, West Bengal and he suffers from a very rare disease. cerebral palsy — arthrogryposis multiplex congenital disorder that limits joint and muscular movement, however, this never shattered his dream of studying in the country’s top colleges. He cleared JEE Main 2020 and got admission in information technology at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology in West Bengal’s Shibpur.

Tuhin created history and didn’t let his physical disability become an hurdle into his path of dreams. He is paralysed below the neck and has undergone 20 surgeries. Several plates have been inserted into his body to keep his bones upright. He has a 90% disability and he writes exam with pen in his mouth and operates phone and computer the same way.

Last year also, he cracked JEE Advanced but due to less marks in Class 12 exam he did not got admission. But, he kept himself motivated.

He did not give up. He took admission in a coaching class in Kota, Rajasthan. All his physical condition has not stopped him from clearing JEE Main 2020 with 438 rank.

Faculty at the institute is also overwhelmed to have such student. They are sure that he will definitely be a good student for them.

As per the official it is the first time that a student with 90 per cent disability will be studying at the institute. The institute is in process of providing his family a lodging facility. Stephen Hawking is the idol of Tuhin Dey. He wants to become an astrophysicist and draws inspiration from theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.

He says “His (Hawking’s) willpower to challenge his illness and become one of the most successful scientists motivated me. I wish to discover the mysteries of the universe and make my country proud.”

Tuhin has decided to pursue astrophysics after completing his B.Tech in computer science. The journey of Tuhin was never easy. He has 90% disability and he cannot even move his hands and legs. He is completely dependent on others for his daily routines. He use his mouth and chin to operate gadgets and smart phones but operating a desktop for JEE Main exam was trouble for him. But, his will power is too strong to stop. Tuhin parents fully supported him, after his elementary education they moved to Kota to support his engineering dream. Tuhin received the Best Creative Child Award in 2012 and the Exceptional Achievement Award in 2013 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education). He has also received the State Award For Best Creative Child in 2011.

Journey of Tuhin was never easy but he did not stop. These success stories are the motivation for millions to pursue dreams no matter what the conditions are? If Tuhin can, you can also achieve success in JEE Main exam.
