The Science Olympiad Foundation’s International Mathematics Olympiad (SOF IMO) is a highly prestigious competitive exam that aims to foster a love for mathematics and enhance students’ problem-solving skills. SOF International Mathematics Olympiads (IMO) will be held on three dates this year. Moreover, the school can choose a single date at its convenience.

SOF IMO SYLLABUS 2024-25

The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) syllabus has already been published on the SOF’s official website. This Olympiad will be held entirely in English. This year, over 7 lakh students are scheduled to participate in SOF’s Olympiad tests. Section – 1: Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.Section – 2: Sets, Relations, and Functions, Principle of Mathematical Induction, Logarithms, Complex Numbers & Quadratic Equations, Linear Inequations, Sequences and Series, Trigonometry, Straight Lines, Conic Sections, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Statistics, Mathematical Reasoning, Limits and Derivatives, Probability, Introduction to 3-D Geometry.

OR

Section – 2: Numbers, Quantification, Numerical Applications, Sets, Relations and Functions, Sequences and Series, Permutations and Combinations, Mathematical Reasoning, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Probability, Descriptive Statistics, Basics of Financial Mathematics, Straight Lines, Circles.

Section – 3: The syllabus of this section will be based on the syllabus of Quantitative Aptitude.

Section – 4: Sets, Relations, Functions, Sequences and Series, Permutations and Combinations, Limits and Derivatives, Straight Lines, Circles, Probability.

CLASS 12 SYLLABUS

Section – 1: Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.Section – 2: Relations and Functions, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, Matrices and Determinants, Continuity and Differentiability, Application of Derivatives, Integrals, Application of Integrals, Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, Three Dimensional Geometry, Probability, Linear Programming.

Section – 2: Numbers, Quantification, Numerical Applications, Solutions of Simultaneous Linear Equations, Matrices, Determinants, Application of Derivatives, Integration, Application of Integrations, Differential Equations, Probability, Inferential Statistics, Index numbers, Time-based data, Financial Mathematics, Linear Programming.

Section – 3: The syllabus of this section will be based on the syllabus of Quantitative Aptitude.

Section – 4: Matrices, Determinants, Application of Derivatives, Integration, Application of Integrations, Differential Equations, Linear Programming, Probability.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Questions of level – 1 Olympiad exams will be 60% from the current class syllabus and 40% from the previous class syllabus, e.g. class-7 IMO exam will have 60% questions from class-7 syllabus and 40% questions from class 6 syllabus. (this will not be applied to class 1st)
  • Questions of level -II Olympiad exams will be from the current class syllabus only.
  • Questions in the Achievers sections will be from the current class syllabus only.
