Question Paper Analysis for English Exam Class 12 CBSE 2024

After Hindi, the Central Board of Secondary Education has successfully conducted the CBSE Class 12 exam for English today (22 February 2024). The exam was held at over 7000+ exam centers across the country and 26 countries abroad for three hours (10.30 AM to 1.30 PM).

The complete English paper was conducted for a maximum of 80 marks divided into three parts – Section A Reading, Section B Grammar Writing and Section C Literature and Fiction. The question paper was a good mix of different types of questions that tested students’ comprehension, writing, and analytical skills.

Section A: The Reading section

It included passages from a variety of sources such as articles, poems, and essays. The questions were designed to test students’ understanding of the text, vocabulary, and inference-making abilities. Students had to not only comprehend the passages but also analyze and interpret them in order to answer the questions accurately.

Section B: The Writing section

It comprised of creative writing tasks such as essay writing, letter writing, and report writing. Students were required to showcase their writing skills, creativity, and ability to express their thoughts clearly and effectively. The topics were current and relevant, ranging from environmental issues to social concerns, which challenged students to think critically and articulate their opinions convincingly.

Section C: The Literature section

It included questions based on the prescribed textbooks, poems, and prose. Students were expected to analyze the themes, characters, and literary devices used in the texts. The questions were designed to assess students’ ability to critically engage with the literature and draw insightful conclusions.

The Class 12 English Exam Paper Was “Easy to Moderate”

According to the class 12 students, who were seen emerging out of the exam centres at 1:30 pm, the English paper was moderate and was based on the CBSE syllabi, a student with a focused knowledge of the English syllabus could do well in the CBSE English exam.

One more student from New Delhi told the news officials that the English paper was easy and was based on the CBSE sample papers although the passage section was lengthy and needed more time.

Overall, The English Paper Was Weighted As “Moderate”

According to the teachers, “the English paper was balanced, it was neither too lengthy nor too difficult. Someone who had a hold of NCERT could do great in the exam”.

Another PGT teacher exam was in line with the CBSE Class 12 English syllabi, student who prepared well for the exam with in depth study will be able to score well.

According to the poll conducted on the official Twitter page of MTG, 60% of students agreed that the exam was moderate, 17% of students voted the exam paper seemed tough whereas 20% of students even voted that the paper was easy.

Overall, the English exam was a well-balanced paper that tested various skills such as reading, writing, and critical thinking. Students who were well-prepared and had a good understanding of the syllabus would have found the exam manageable. However, the exam required students to think on their feet, analyze information quickly, and articulate their thoughts concisely, which may have posed a challenge for some.

This was of the second major language exam of CBSE curriculum. The next exam is of Chemistry subject and is scheduled to be held on 27th February 2024 which is an important exam for both medical and non-medical students, so they need to work hard as it is a very crucial exam for NEET/JEE aspirants along with CBSE students.
