  • Class Eligibility: The SOF ISSO is a competition for students in grades 3 to 10. Anyone in this grade range can participate and show off their social studies aptitude.
  • School Affiliation: The participating school must be affiliated with a certified education board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), or the State Board. This requirement ensures that the participating schools meet the educational standards necessary to provide a suitable academic environment for the students.
  • Eligibility for Single-level Olympiad Exam: Students from classes 3 to 10 can take part in the SOF ISSO exam. This exam happens in school during school hours, which is easy for all students to join. It’s a good opportunity for students to show their social studies aptitude.

  1. How can schools register for the SOF ISSO?

Any school can register as a center for SOF ISSO. No fee is required from the institution to become a registered examination center. Prospectus and registration forms are sent to all registered schools. Schools not registered may request the prospectus by emailing info@sofworld.org or calling 0124-4951200.

  1. What is the registration fee for the SOF ISSO?

Schools in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal pay a registration fee of Rs 125* (including GST) per student/Olympiad. Schools may charge additional fees for in-charge honorarium, teacher remuneration, and other expenses. Students with major physical disabilities or Indian students whose parents were martyred during defence operations are exempt from the fee. For schools in countries other than India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal, the registration fee is $9* per student, with an additional fee of $1** per student.

  1. What types of questions are asked in Olympiad exams?

The Olympiad comprises multiple-choice questions where students are presented with various options and must choose the answer, they believe to be correct. Students need to bring their pens and pencils to complete the examination.

  1. Is there any negative marking in SOF ISSO Olympiad exam?

There is no negative marking in SOF ISSO Olympiad exam.

  1. Which is the hardest Olympiad exam?

SOF IMO – International Mathematics Olympiad is considered the most difficult exam as it contains mostly numerical questions.

  1. Who gets gold medal in SOF Olympiads?

Medals of Excellence will be awarded on the following criteria:

  • All students scoring 100% marks will be awarded Gold Medal of Excellence.
  • For 5 to 9 students writing the exam from a class – Gold Medal of Excellence to top rank holder in class.
  • For 10 to 25 students writing the exam from a class – Gold Medal of Excellence to top 3 rank holders.
  • For more than 25 students writing the exam from a class – Gold Medal of Excellence to top 10% rank holders in class.
  1. Who is eligible to sit for the ISSO Olympiads?

Students of classes 3rd to 10th are eligible to appear for the SOF ISSO. There is no other eligibility criterion like minimum marks.
