IEO Class 3 Syllabus (2024) and Exam Pattern – Level 1 and Level 2

The SOF IEO is a special English olympiad exam for students from Class 1 to 12. It helps students get better in English and learn more about the language. By taking part in the IEO, students can show how good they are in English, get better at reading and writing, and even compete at a big level.

The syllabus for Class 3 introduces students to fundamental English concepts, helping them establish a strong foundation in the language. Participating in the IEO offers students the opportunity to demonstrate their English proficiency, improve their reading and writing abilities, and compete at both national and international levels. Students will face tricky questions that make them think hard and be creative. Doing well in the Class 3 IEO exam, which has a total of 40 marks, will prepare students for doing well in other school subjects too. Also, by doing the writing tasks in the course, students will get better at writing creatively and expressing their ideas clearly and convincingly.

IEO Syllabus for Class 3 (2024)

Students will be tested on their ability to recognize and use different words and phrases, understand basic grammar rules, and comprehend simple passages.

IEO Level 1 Syllabus for Class 3 (2024)

Topics included in the SOF IEO level 1 syllabus for Class 3 are

Word Power : Homophones, Collocations, Spellings, Words related to animals, Household things, Clothes, Basic emotions, Food, Animals and Pets, etc., Search for and retrieve information from various text types like Stories, Anecdotes, etc., Ability to understand situation-based variations in functions like apology, greeting, introduction, request, etc. Higher Order Thinking Questions – Syllabus as per Sections 1, 2 and 3.
Synonyms and Antonyms Understand information through pictures
Gender Time-table format, etc
Number Acquire broad understanding of and look for specific information in short texts like messages, Invitations, etc.

IEO Level 2 Syllabus for Class 3 (2024)

Topics included in the SOF IEO syllabus level 2 for Class 3 are divided into 3 sections as below

Section – 1 Collocations, Spellings, Gender, Singular-Plural, One word Substitution, Synonyms, Antonyms, Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Adverbs, Adjectives, Contractions, Articles, Prepositions, Conjunctions, Tenses, Punctuations and Jumbled words, Basic Questions, Question Tags, Proverbs, Idioms, etc.
Section – 2 Search for and retrieve information from various text types like Stories, Anecdotes, etc., Understand information through pictures, Time-table format, etc., Acquire broad understanding of and look for specific information in short texts like messages, Invitations, etc.
Section – 3 Higher Order Thinking Questions – Syllabus as per Sections 1, 2 and 3.
