Many students may get confused due to the 9.5 formula but they must understand that thereโ€™s a calculation behind this as this number signifies the average score obtained by top CBSE students. The board found out that the average mark of all the topper candidates in the previous five years was 95. As this number falls in the A1 grade (10), it was divided by 10. That is how the average score of 9.5 was found.
