CBSE 12th Board Exam

CBSE 12th board exam plays an important role in deciding the career prospects of every student. Whether you are a Science student or a Commerce student, your career will depend upon your board marks apart from the entrance exams. It is therefore absolutely imperative that students must study for CBSE Board exams with the right approach and technique to perform well.

Along with the right plan, it is essential to know where you might commit mistakes or what are your patterns of misinterpreting the questions. To strike the right chord, you have to make the correct combination of studying hard for the exam and acting smart during it. Following are the 7 silliest mistakes that students should avoid while preparing and writing the CBSE 12th board exam.

Mistake 1: Studying at A Stretch

One of the most common mistakes that student commit is studying continuously for 5-6 hours. With continuous study, the mind shuts down after a while and eventually, nothing feeds in. So, plan your study time for a total of 8-12 hours daily, but with power gaps in between. Your study should include small breaks in between so that you can refresh your mind and start learning with new energy. This way you can also beat procrastination.

Mistake 2: Lack of Writing Practice

Often students lag behind in board simply because they do not have enough writing practice. The answers to board questions can be really lengthy, and if you get stuck in a question or more, you might face a time crunch. You may leave questions un-attempted which you knew better, and itโ€™s a real pain that you will always regret. So, writing practice is a MUST. To avoid this mistake, students need to solve as many sample papers as possible. Refer to MTG Score more 21 sample papers for CBSE Boards 2022-23 for better practice. The sample papers given in it are designed as per the latest changes introduced by CBSE itself on 16th September 2022. The Self Evaluation sheet is also provided after each Sample Question Paper (SQP) which will help you to assess your performance.

Mistake 3: Not Reading the Question Paper Properly & Waiting for Unplanned Answers

Generally, students make the mistake of not reading the entire question paper and thereby not setting the priority on how to write the paper. They donโ€™t organise their thoughts before writing the answers.ย  Due to this, they end up choosing the wrong optional question and then regret it later. Even board has allotted an extra 15 minutes time to read the question paper, still students do not use this time and usually write the unplanned answers. Therefore, students should utilize these 15 minutes so that they can organise their thoughts and manage their time during the exam.

Students can also refer to CBSE Chapter-wise Topic-wise 10 Years Solved Papers that have 10 years of solved previous papers, 5 CBSE practice, and 3 CBSE Sample papers. The best part is that it also has CBSE Toppers 2020 answers which can help you decipher how the toppers score more.

Mistake 4: Skipping the Formulas & Diagrams

Sometimes students forget to write the formulas while solving numerical problems. Donโ€™t forget to write proper steps and formulas and make diagrams where they are needed.

For this, you can also seek the expertise of the book 100 PERCENT. This book has everything a student could ask for in a book for understanding concepts. It has an unparalleled theory, diagrams, illustrations, flow charts, tables, examples, concept maps, experiments, real-life scenarios, and multi-level exercises. This could really help you do better in CBSE boards because you would be entitled to more material that you use while writing detailed answers in the exam.

Mistake 5: Time Mismanagement

This is the most important task student should consider while writing the answers, but most of the students start writing the paper without taking care of proper time management. When the time gets over, they are left with no other option than leaving some questions un-attempted, due to which they lose precious marks. The best way to avoid this mistake is to solve CBSE sample papers and Previous Yearsโ€™ Papers. Solving the sample papers and CBSE previous yearsโ€™ papers give you ample idea about how to manage time during the exam.

Mistake 6: Last-Minute Mugging Up

Leaving a few topics for the last few days is a big mistake committed by students. Last-minute mugging will lead to a lot of anxiety while sitting in the exam hall. You will commit those mistakes which could have been avoided, simply because you are nervous. If youโ€™re someone who has a hard time understanding concepts from the initial stage and end up mugging them later then you must refer to Objective NCERT At Your Fingertips. This book is perfect for studying after youโ€™re done with your NCERT textbook because it has MCQs pulled out from each line of NCERT. Almost 100+ MCQs from each topic mean you will end up having an ultra-strong grasp on your conceptual foundation.

Mistake 7: Handing Over the Sheet Without Checking

One of the most common mistakes is handing over the sheet to the examiner without checking and revising the answers. While writing the exam some of the students think faster than their writing speed, so they skip writing some required terms in the answer. Due to these silly mistakes, the answer does not make sense at times. To make it worst, sometimes, such faster-thinking students skip to write NOT in the sentence where needed, giving a completely opposite meaning and thereby making a blunder unintentionally.

Also, after completing the paper, students just hand over their answer script to the examiner without even checking if they have written their roll no, or other asked information correctly or not. So, it is very important for a student to spare some time for the end to check the answer script properly before submitting it to the examiner.
