CBSE Cancelled Class 10 Board 2021 Exams: Check on what Criteria Marks will be allotted

On 14th April 2021 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the cancellation of Class 10 CBSE Board exam and Postponement of Class 12 CBSE Board exams due to alarming increase in COVID-19 cases in the country. Check the complete information here. CBSE took the decision to keep the children safe in this COVID-19 era. But, after the announcement of Class 10 Board exam cancellation many students are in the state of confusion. Students are wondering on what basis CBSE will allot marks to them. Here we are sharing certain information on basis of the year 2020 and the latest notice released by CBSE for the year 2021 to help students understand the possible ways CBSE could calculate the marks in the year 2021.

Two major Highlights of the official notice released by the CBSE Board for the year 2021

  1. CBSE 10th Result 2021 will be declared based on objective criterion (to be set by the board).
  2. The Students not satisfied with their CBSE 10th Result 2021 will be allowed to appear for exams (to be conducted if the conditions are conductive).

This clearly states that the CBSE will create an assessment scheme, with certain set of rules. It is yet to be developed by CBSE Board. There are high chances that internal assessments will be used by the board to create this new criterion. CBSE also clearly mentioned that the students not happy with their results can opt for optional CBSE class 10th Board exam 2021 later. These optional exams will be conducted when the situation due to COVID-19 get better.

Alternate Assessment Scheme used by CBSE in the Year 2020

We are sharing the alternate assessment scheme used by CBSE Board in the year 2020 to calculate the marks of Class 10 students. This is to help the students understand the pattern used by CBSE to calculate marks. What could be the possible way through which CBSE can calculate the marks of students in the year 2021?

Major Highlights of Assessment Scheme 2020 are:

  1. If a student has appeared for more than 3 exams, the average of three papers marks will be used as scores for pending papers
  2. For those students who appeared in lesser papers, the average will be based on the two highest-scoring subjects and allotted to the remaining papers.
  3. For students who have not appeared for less than three exams, their score will be marked as per internal/ practical/ project assessment.

This Assessment scheme clearly indicates that there are high chances of CBSE using the internal assessment to calculate marks in the year 2021. Hope this helped student in understanding the pattern and clearing their doubts. Soon CBSE will release the new criterion to end all the speculations.

CBSE Class 12 Board exam are postponed and the new date will be released on or after 1st June 2021. In the meantime, Class 12 students are advised to study well to perform better in the upcoming CBSE exam. They can check Class 12 Previous year papers and sample paper to improve question solving skills and know the perfect ways to write answers in the CBSE Board exams. Students can also check the excel series reference books to clear doubts and understand topic better with MTG books.
