The Science Olympiad Foundation’s International Mathematics Olympiad (SOF IMO) is a highly prestigious competitive exam that aims to foster a love for mathematics and enhance students’ problem-solving skills. It provides a platform for students to showcase their mathematical abilities and compete at national and international levels.

Parents and students may be interested to know that the syllabus for the Maths Olympiad IMO Class 4 is based on the same topics taught in schools based on the latest NEP (2020), NCF (2022), NCERT and CBSE guidelines, National and various State Boards for the convenience of schools and students,. This means that students can benefit from the additional practice and reinforcement of concepts covered in class. Participating in Olympiad exams can enhance their understanding of mathematics as a whole, as it prompts them to think critically and apply the fundamental concepts they have learned.

Why Maths Olympiad for Class 4?

The SOF IMO class 4 Olympiad follows a syllabus that matches what students learn in their schools. The syllabus is made to fit with the school curriculum. This means students are tested on the important math concepts they study in their regular classes. The Olympiad syllabus is designed in a way that ensures fairness and allows students to apply what they have learned in school during the competition. It helps to evaluate their understanding of fundamental mathematical ideas and problem-solving skills. By aligning the Olympiad syllabus with the school curriculum, the Science Olympiad Foundation aims to provide a level playing field for all participants and encourage them to apply their knowledge in a practical setting.

IMO Syllabus for Class 4 (2024-25)

The Syllabus for IMO Class 4 includes a total of 35 questions, and students will have one hour to complete the exam. To support preparation, students can use the previous years’ question paper books. In the exam, Level I questions will be based on 60 per cent of the Class 4 Syllabus and 40 per cent of the Class 3 Syllabus. Additionally, the Achievers section will focus solely on the Class 4 syllabus.

The syllabus for the IMO Class 4 has four sections: Logical Reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Mathematics, and Achievers. Engaging with these sections can enable students to develop their logical thinking skills, mathematical problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in everyday math applications.
