Last date for JNV Registration is 29th December 2020

Competition is with 30 Lakh+ Students!

Jawahar Navodaya Samiti has already released the the application form for admission to class 6th in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). The last date to submit the online application forms was 30th November 2020 which has been extended to December 29, 2020. Interested students who have not filled the forms yet can fill their application on the official website of JNV i.e., www.navodaya.gov.in. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, NVS will conduct the All India level Admission test, JNVST 2021 to fill the vacant seats in class 6 in JNVs situated in different states all over India.

  • Total number of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya’s: 661 Navodaya Schools
  • Approximate number of seats : 48,000
  • Covered States and UTs: 28 States & 7 UTs
  • Selection Process: Written Test
  • Test Name: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Written Test (JNVST)
  • Mode of Exam: Pen and paper based.
  • The students should have passed class III, IV and V in preceding years without a gap/break.
  • Students must be passed in Class 5th qualifying examination from Government/Govt. Aided, or any other recognized school or ‘B’ certificate Competency Course of National Institute of Open Schooling from the same district.
  • They must be between 9 to 13 years of age including all reserved category students
  • The student must be appearing for JNV Selection Test for the first time as the second attempt is not allowed.
  • The rural quota is only considered when the candidates have studied class III, IV and V in a rural area school. If any student has attempted even a day in any of these classes in Urban School then he will be considered as Urban Candidate.
  • Rural area candidate will be given preference and at least 75% seats will be filled by Rural candidates. Remaining seats will be filled by urban candidate.
  • A candidate seeking admission under the rural quota must have studied in Classes-III, IV and V completing full academic session from the Government/ Govt. Aided/Govt. recognized school(s) located in rural areas
  • 33% seats are to be filled by girl candidate.

 How to Apply: Registration process is very simple and online. Registration can be done free of cost through the admission portal of NVS linked through www.navodaya.gov.in

Candidate has to fill the online form and attached the following items

  1. Certificate from the headmaster/Principal of the school from where he is studying class 5
  2. Photograph is to be affixed on that
  3. Signed by both student and parent
  4. Attachment format is JPG and size should not be more than 100KB

 Exam Type – Objective (MCQ) type question.

Time duration – 2 hours (120 minute)

Total Marks – 100

Total Questions – 80

Language of the exam : The exam will be conducted in 21 languages including Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, English, Garo, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Khasi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Mizo, Oriya, Punjabi, Sindhi (Arabic), Sindhi (Devnagri), Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and Nepali

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are special schools under CBSE which has been tasked to find out the talented minds among rural population. These schools provide best education to selected students irrespective of their socio-economic status. These schools are fully residential and co-education affiliated to CBSE.

In January 2020 total 30,46,506 candidates had appeared in the entrance exam. Approximately 46.19 per cent were female students. The JNVST was conducted for admission in 48,000 seats.

For second phase of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (winter bound), a total of 1,16,679 candidates appeared in the JNVST entrance exam at 579 centres spread across the country.
