Optional Board Examination for Class 12th CBSE Students

Update on: 23 Jun 2021, 03:51 PM

The secondary phase of Covid 19 hit nationwide as a major outbreak that calls for the cancellation of Class 10th & Class 12th Board Examination. Keeping the safety of every student in view, the CBSE has declared this cancelation and against it incubating new policies for generating the exam results. When several students are pleased with the decision, most students share their viewpoint against the opposition of the same. It creates an intense panic situation among students and parents that demands evaluation criteria to draft the students’ results.

Evaluation Criteria for Class 12 Boards

The CBSE has decided to evaluate the class 12 results on the below criteria:

CBSE has announced that Students will get marks and not grades. The result will be complied by considering students’ performance over the past 3-years in a systematized way- Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12. Class 12th exams will have the maximum weightage as it includes preboard, unit test & mid-terms.

The final marks will have a ratio of 30:30:40 that holds the accountability as below:

  • The basis of the above assessments needs to be declared by the end of July, and this evaluation policy has got approval from Supreme Court.
  • Teachers/ faculty have a significant role in tracking students’ performance via different means to analyze it from previous internal assessments and class performances.

Students eagerly await the final result, and CBSE is high on its toes to get it tabulated as soon as possible. It is also trying to help out different committees, teachers and schools to accomplish it.

CBSE advises schools to cast a committee of 5 members headed by the Principal to formulate the board examination result based on the provided policy.

“CBSE recently promulgates that they are developing an IT system”, that will assist schools in preparing Class 12 results—making the process hassle-free to get accurate calculation while making the result.

The new system focuses on simplifying the work of calculation, reducing time and dealing with other problems.

What if students do not agree to the above evaluation?

A significant section of students opposes this criterion and favors these students. As a result, CBSE has told the Supreme court to allow Optional Board Exams for the students/ candidates who are not satisfied with this itinerary.

Students who are not satisfied with marks received based on a 30:30:40 basis were given an option to undertake the Board examination. The registration will be done online at CBSE’s official website – cbse.nic.in.

The exam schedule is between August 15 and September 15, 2021, subject to the conducive situation. Students are anxiously waiting for the JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 dates. Education Ministry signaled to share the schedule soon.
