top tips one night before exam

The day before the exam is very important and dreadful, we know. However, did you know that there are certain do’s and don’ts that not many students know about? Students usually spend the day before the exam cramming up, mugging up, and hyperventilating. But, it doesn’t help. Thus, we are here to help you with some things that you should and should not do one day before the exam day.

Tips for the Day Before the Exam Day

  1. Don’t Stay Up Late to Study

Along with getting enough sleep, don’t put too much pressure on yourself to stay up all night studying. Studying late may exhaust you and increase your anxiety, so establish a good cut-off time so that you have time for a healthy dinner as well as some time to wind down and relax before bed.

Late night

  1. Have a Balanced Meal

You should always eat as healthily as possible, but this is especially important the night before the exam. Eat a well-balanced meal that includes carbohydrates for energy, protein for brainpower, and a small amount of natural sugars. Too much sugar the night before an exam may keep you awake, and if you have a lot of sugar before an exam, you may feel crash during the test or find it difficult to focus.

Balanced diet

  1. Walk for 15 Mins After Your Night Meal

To digest your food, do light walking after having your meal. Some people lie down right after having a meal, which is not right at all. However, one night before the exam day, you must take extra care of this by walking a bit around the house after your meal. This will help you by digesting your food swiftly and you won’t face any indigestion problems the next or during the exam.

Walking after meal

  1. Set 2 Alarms

Set an alarm. Actually, set two alarms. If you’re still concerned, ask a family member to check on you and wake you up. Just make sure you arrive at the exam on time. Missing the exam is the worst thing you can do! Rather than hitting snooze on a regular basis, set a backup alarm for a few minutes later so that if you miss the first, you have a backup ready to go off and wake you up.

Set 2 alarm

  1. Revise Your Notes the Day Before

Instead of starting up new topics or chapters, revise your notes. It will definitely make you feel better. Revising the notes is a good idea because it will jog your memory and remind you of the whole topic. However, starting new topics will scare you.

  1. Prepare for the Next Morning

Instead of risking running late and missing things, prepare for everything before. It’s always better to save some time and worry in the morning by taking care of everything the night before. This includes everything – preparing for breakfast, laying out your clothes and shoes, and packing your bag with all necessary geometry and documents. Leave nothing for the next morning that might take up too much time. This way, when you wake up, you will be ready to go without any tension.

  1. Don’t Drink Too Much Water

Drinking a sip of water every hour is sufficient. Dehydration will not be an issue during the exam, but drinking several pints of water and needing a toilet break every five minutes will be. The sip is just a temporary distraction to give your brain and hand rest.

  1. Think Positive

Whoever said – Think Positive and Positive will Happen, is probably true. Because it makes you calm and helps you feel confident to do better. Therefore, think happy and positive thoughts about your exam results and you will be just fine.

While it may seem easier said than done, you should be relaxed before taking an exam. You can think more clearly, access your memory, and be better prepared for an exam if you are relaxed. It is critical to remember that exams are not meant to frighten or intimidate you. Rather, they are intended to test your knowledge of previously taught material, so it is best to stay attentive in classes and manage your time wisely so that you always feel prepared. Everyone has different study methods and resources, but once you find yours, you can stick to them and succeed!

All the best.
