Big Update for JEE 2025 Aspirants: NTA Discontinues Optional Questions in JEE Section B

Update on: 18 Oct 2024, 12:05 PM

National Testing Agency (NTA) in its latest notification has decided to discontinue the optional selection of questions in section B of each subject in the JEE Main examination from the JEE 2025 session onward. During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, NTA introduced a new exam pattern that gave JEE candidates the option to attempt any 5 questions of a total of 10 questions. This new pattern came into effect from JEE Main 2021 exam. The new changes were introduced as a temporary measure to accommodate the issues candidates faced during the pandemic. This new pattern continued till JEE Main 2024.

Nevertheless, this temporary system will cease to exist from JEE Main 2025 as the World Health Organization declared the end of COVID-19 pandemic last year itself. The JEE exam pattern would return to its actual format, where Section B will comprise only 5 questions per subject, and candidates will need to attempt all 5 questions. They won’t be given any options for Paper 1 (BE/B.Tech), Paper 2A (B.Arch), and Paper 2B (B.Planning). NTA will share the detailed pattern of the JEE examination in the Information Bulletin of JEE Main 2025.

For more clarification and the latest updates, candidates are advised to keep visiting the official websites of NTA – www.nta.ac.in and https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/. Only a few months remain for JEE Main 2025 registration, which is likely to begin from November 2024. So, fasten your seat belts and gear up for JEE Main 2025.
