Final Merit List of JEE Main 2024

The JEE Main final merit list, used for admissions to engineering programs, is prepared based on the following steps:

  1. Normalisation of Scores

The NTA normalizes the raw marks from both sessions (January and April) to account for any difficulty level variations between them. This ensures a fair comparison between candidates who took the exam in different sessions.

  1. Considering Best Scores

Candidates who appeared in both JEE Main sessions will have their final rank list determined based on the best NTA score from either session. This means that only the session in which the candidate performed better will be taken into account. If a candidate appeared in only one session, their score from that attempt is used for ranking.

  1. Rank Calculation based on NTA Scores

Ranks are assigned based on the normalised NTA scores in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (Paper-1) for B.E./B.Tech programs.

  1. Separate Merit Lists

Separate merit lists are prepared for Paper-1 (B.E./B.Tech) and Paper-2 (B.Arch & B.Planning) programs.

JEE Advanced 2024 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for JEE Advanced, students must be among the top 250,000 scorers (including all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main) 2024. Seats are reserved for different categories as follows:

  • 10% General – Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS)
  • 27% Other Backward Classes – Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL)
  • 15% Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • 7.5% Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • 40.5% Open for All (OPEN)
  • An additional 5% horizontal reservation within each category is available for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates.
The total number of candidates may be slightly greater than 2,50,000 in the presence of โ€œtiedโ€ ranks/scores in any category
