NEET UG 2023: Whopping 97% surge in MBBS seats since 2014

Bharti Praveen Pawar, minister of state in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, informed the Parliament today that there is a 71% increase in MBBS colleges in India. Medical colleges have increased from 387 to 660 since 2014.

The Medical Education Department, Uttar Pradesh today announced that there will an addition of 1,300 new MBBS seats in state government-run medical colleges and 13 new medical colleges will start from the academic year 2023-24.

Furthermore, he said that in his government there’s a whopping 97% increase in MBBS seats. Currently, there are 101,043 seats available, up from 51,348 in 2014, of which 52,778 are accessible in government medical colleges and the remaining 48,265 seats are available in private medical colleges.

According to Pawar, there has been a countrywide growth of 110 percent in the number of PG seats in medicine. There were 31,185 seats in the nation prior to 2014. There are now 65,335 seats available. 13,246 of the total number of PG seats are for Diplomate of National Board (DNB)/Fellow of National Board candidates (FNB). The College of Physicians and Surgeons has 1621 PG seats.

Registrations for NEET UG 2023 are ongoing and will be closed on 6th April. You can register for the exam through NTA’s official website neet.nta.nic.in. The exam will take place on 7th May and NEET 2023 results has been announced on the official website by the last week of May or June.
