As per the National Education Policy, the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) for Early Childhood Care will be implemented for Nursery through Class 2 from the academic session 2023–2024 in all the CBSE-affiliated schools, as announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in an official notification.

CBSE also stated that “NCFFS 2022 has been developed by the NCERT as per the mandate of the National Education Policy 2020 to outline the competencies and learning outcomes, general principles, and approaches that should guide teaching and learning at the foundational stage. It serves as a guideline for schools and teachers to design and develop curricula, syllabi, and teaching materials that align with the national educational goals.”
The official notice also disclosed that “at the national level, NCERT will conduct a survey on MyGov and get feedback from diverse stakeholders on the issues related to curriculum implementation. NCERT will also conduct 2-3 district-level consultations in each of the states and UTs to collect feedback at the grassroots level. “After analyzing inputs received from the district level consultations and the state and national level surveys on MyGov, National Focus Groups will prepare 25 position papers in the identified areas.”

This 5-year division of early childhood care from nursery to class 2 is designed in line with the early childhood cognitive development phases that a child goes through. This is highly progressive news as it will help align the national educational goal of uniformity in education.
