CUCET or CUET is a part of NEP 2020’s Higher Education Amendment Program, which mandates the entrance exam for 45 central institutions in India. It’s no secret that our country was in the strong need for a change of the education system. And finally, after 34 years, a new and very beneficial national education policy paved its path for a better outcome. Now, CUET is an entrance exam under NEP 2020 which makes this entrance test mandatory for 45 of the central universities. Under the Ministry of Education, the CUET will be the only criteria for admission of undergraduate courses in the central universities from now on. The National Education Policy has stated unequivocally that admission to higher education should be through a national Common Entrance Test in order to ensure a uniform standard of college admissions for students.
The students or anyone who has an experience of going through the admission process of universities know that the criteria of admissions before really wasn’t fair to everyone. Students had utmost pressure of boards because their admissions were based on the class 12th scores. The cut-offs for DU skyrocketed every year, stressing the students. Also, should board scores really be the mere measure of once knowledge and intelligence? That is why so many top universities conducted their individual entrance exams for admissions. However, from now on, as the CUET has been implemented, individual entrance exams will be removed and there will be just one entrance test, which is CUET 2022, for undergraduate course admissions. This is indeed a fair mechanism for college admissions as so many students aspired to get into DU and could not because they didn’t score enough according to DU cut-offs. But not anymore, since they have a chance of fulfilling their dreams now with the CUET.

How is CUET Helpful for Students?
- The Ease of Mind.
The fact that the board exam results is not the only criteria for admissions to any central university for an undergraduate course, would ease their mind. They would be better able to divide their focus between boards, CUET, or any other entrance exams. The good news is that students can stop worrying about their board exams by recognizing that board examinations aren’t the sole way to get into their desired university or dream college.
- Equality Amongst Students.
The Common University Entrance Test (UG) – 2022 will provide a common platform and equal possibilities to candidates from all over the country, particularly those from the North-East, rural, and other remote places, and will aid in the establishment of better connections with universities. It will assess conceptual understanding and the capacity to apply knowledge, with the goal of obviating the requirement for exam preparation. It will build stronger ties with universities and be admitted to colleges on their own merit.

- Freedom & Flexibility.
The CUET exam might be a competitive exam but it has levels of setting a student to comfort. This test has three sections with different categories and a student could choose it according to their own preference. The freedom to choose their own language in the first section, their desired subjects in the second section, and general knowledge in the third section shows how eclectic, versatile, and flexible this exam is. However, there are different set of subjects that you need to choose for different courses. So, if you’re aiming for DU, know which subjects to pick for different courses. Not to mention, CUET 2022 has no restrictions whatsoever if you want to change your streams. Thus, students can choose their own comfort zones to work hard in their desired area.
- Shift in Student Crowd.
With the implementation in the admission process, it is definite that there will be a slight difference in the type of crowd entering the universities. The establishment of an entrance test like the CUET 2022 would undoubtedly improve the quality of education and the number of students at the University. Preference will be given to those who have the highest merit score, according to the rules. So, merely scoring high in boards would not be enough. The criteria would indeed be better in the greater picture.
- No Need for Separate Preparation.
As the CUET 2022 syllabus will be completely based on the class 12th syllabus, the students will not have to worry about preparing separately for it. All they have to do is prepare and revise their class 12th syllabus thoroughly. As they would be doing it anyway for their boards, it will be no problem at all. Therefore, the CUET exam 2022 also brings this good news for all the CUET aspirants. Although, they do need thorough revision and exam-like practice because of question typology appearing in the exam.
