The Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) has officially announced the SOF International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) Level 2 Cut-Off for the academic year 2025โ26. Students who have successfully qualified through Level 1 can now gear up for the second level of this prestigious Olympiad.
This updated blog covers the latest cut-off criteria, eligibility rules, exam dates, result-related timelines, and award dispatch schedules as released by SOF.
SOF IMO Level 2 Qualification Criteria (2025โ26)
A student qualifies for the SOF IMO Level 2 exam if they meet any one of the following criteria in the Level 1 examination:
1. Top 5% Students (Class-wise)
The top 5% of students, class-wise, who appeared for the SOF IMO Level 1 exam are eligible for Level 2.
2. Top 25 Rank Holders (Zone-wise & Class-wise)
The top 25 rank holders, zone-wise and class-wise, qualify directly for the Level 2 examination.
3. Class Topper Criteria
The Class Topper is eligible for Level 2 provided:
- At least 10 students from the same class appeared for the IMO Level 1 exam, and
- The topper scored 50% or more marks.
SOF IMO Level 2 Exam Date 2026
The SOF IMO Level 2 examination will be conducted on the following dates:
- 8 February 2026 โ For students from Rest of the World
- 15 February 2026 โ For students from Maharashtra State
Exam Time & Venue: The exact exam time and venue details will be shared with schools and students by end of January 2026.
SOF IMO Level 2 Cut-Off Marks
The official class-wise and zone-wise cut-off marks for SOF IMO Level 2 are determined based on:
- Number of students appearing
- Overall performance
- Class-wise competition level

In the event of more than one student scoring the same total marks, the marks obtained section-wise are taken into consideration. The weightage given to the sections varies depending on the class level. For classes 1 to 10, the order of weightage is M3, M2, M1. However, for classes 11 and 12, the order is M3, M1, M2.
Apart from the top 5% qualifiers, additional students can also qualify for the second level.
Class toppers, where at least 10 students from a class appeared for the IMO and scored 50% or more marks, automatically qualify.
Furthermore, the top 25 rank holders from each zone, class-wise, also secure a spot in the second level.
Ultimately, the SOF IMO aims to foster scientific aptitude and passion among young students, allowing them to explore their potential and showcase their talent on an international platform.
Students are advised to check the official cut-off list released by SOF for detailed cut-off marks applicable to their class and zone.
Certificates, Medals & Reports โ Dispatch Timeline

By January 2026
The following will be sent to the respective schools:
- Student Progress Reports
- Participation Certificates
- School Topper Medals
- Medals of Distinction
- Certificates of Distinction
- Teachersโ Certificates (as applicable)
By July 2026
- International Awards
- Zonal Awards
