Do you remember the two main characters of the Bollywood movie Fukrey and their whacky tantrums just to get admission to a college of their dreams? Although fiction, the movie dealt with a prominent question most of the 12th-class students had in mind for many years – “what if we don’t get enough marks to make it to the cut-off list”. However, there is no need for students to undergo such travesty anymore. Ever since the CUET was introduced, the process of admission to undergraduate courses has become more democratized than ever. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is an annual national-level competitive exam organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for 12th-passed students for admission to various undergraduate courses in many Indian universities.

Now students can get admission to their dream college based on their performance in CUET. If a student follows the syllabus, exam dates, and the pattern for CUET 2025 released by NTA, the odds of him/her becoming anxious are reduced significantly and that of staying calm and relaxed grows manifold. Assessment of Language, Domain Knowledge, and General Knowledge

The CUET exam assesses a student’s language, domain knowledge, and general knowledge. Mode of Exam – CBT and Pen & Paper

The NTA will conduct the CUET in Hybrid mode (CBT and Pen & Paper) mode at various exam centres in the third and fourth week of May. 63 test papers are being offered in the CUET. The duration of the test will be 45 minutes except in some subjects i.e., Accountancy, Economics, Physics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, Chemistry, Mathematics, and General Test, the duration of the test will be 60 minutes.

To ensure that the candidates from all backgrounds have an equal opportunity to perform their best, NTA has decided to conduct the test papers which have been chosen by the majority of the candidates in the Pen & Paper mode. CUET Syllabus 2025

NTA publishes the syllabus for the CUET on its official website – exams.nta.ac.in. The CUET UG syllabus is of the same level as the NCERT Class 12 syllabus. It consists of Language, Domain Subjects, and General Awareness. Those interested in participating in CUET should review the CUET syllabus 2024 provided below, and begin their preparation.

Section 1

Section 1 of the CUET exam tests the language proficiency of the candidates. It is divided into two parts – A and B.

Questions from the Language section comprises the following:

  • Synonyms and Antonyms
  • Vocabulary

Section 2

There are 29 domain-specific subjects offered by NTA. The syllabus for the same is based on the class 12th syllabus. The candidate can choose any subject as asked by the University. Below is the list of domain subjects in the table:

Section 3

CUET 2025 Exam Pattern

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has described the exam pattern of the CUET exam.

CUET exam pattern is prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam conducting body. Like the previous year, the CUET UG 2025 exam is likely to be conducted in hybrid mode. As stated by UGC Chairman, M. Jagadesh Kumar, “For the subjects where there will be higher percentage of registrations, we will bring in OMR (MCQ). In this way, we will be able to conduct exam for those specific subjects in one day and in one shift for all candidates.”

CUET UG 2025 will be divided into three parts carrying objective-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Talking about the medium of the CUET 2024 question paper, it will be English, and the languages selected by candidates among 12 regional languages. Each question will carry five marks and one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

The CUET UG will consist of Section 1A, Section 1B, General Test, and domain-specific subjects. Section 1A, the compulsory section, will be held in 13 languages and candidates will be given the option to select the language of their choice. Candidates can take up to six subjects which would comprise three domain subjects, two languages, and a general test.

The NTA will hold the CUET UG 2025 exam in a hybrid mode. The CUET UG 2025 questions will be asked in a multiple-choice questions (MCQs) format.

CUET Exam Pattern 2025: Section Wise Details

Section 1A and 1B- languages

  • The languages offered under Section 1A of CUET 2025 are Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Assamese, Punjabi, and Urdu.
  • For Section 1B, the languages consist of Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, and Chinese.

Section 2- Domain Specific Subjects

During the selection of domain-specific subjects, the candidates must align with the subjects studied in class 12 and according to the subjects required for admission to their favourite program and college. Candidates must go through the brochure of the University to select the domain-specific subjects. According to CUET exam pattern 2025, domain-specific subjects are as follows:

CUET UG 2025 Mode of Examination
