Common Mistakes to Avoid During IEO Preparation

There are a number of common mistakes that SOF IEO students make during IEO preparation. Let’s discuss them one by one.

Overlooking Syllabus Topics

It is found that some students don’t care to go through the syllabus topics and start preparing for the IEO straightaway. This is not the ideal way to prepare for the Olympiad exams. Ignoring syllabus topics will leave you clueless about the important topics and the efforts required on them. So, the only way out is to pay due attention to the syllabus topics. Students can refer the official website of SOF – sofworld.org for a proper guidance regarding the syllabus.

Neglecting Time Management

The second mistake is the continuation of the first mistake. When students tend to ignore syllabus topics, they end up wasting a lot of time on the right strategy to cover the syllabus resulting in the ultimate failure in the Olympiad exams. So, it’s essential you give proper attention to time management that is in line with the syllabus of the respective Olympiad exams.

Not Solving Sufficient Practice Papers

Practice papers play a crucial role in the last-stage preparation of any Olympiad exam. Not dedicating enough time to solve practice papers can prove detrimental. Practice papers give you the right idea about your level of preparation. They help you find the weakness and allow you to work on it. Therefore, you should never underestimate the power of practice papers.

On the Day of the IEO Exam

Last-Minute Revision Tips

In the last leg of your preparation for SOF IEO, you need to go through essential notes for effective revision. Don’t try to do too many things. Stay confident and have faith on your hard work.

Keeping Calm and Focused

Many students find it unnerving when they participate in any competition. They just need to relax and focus on their forte. Students often tend to focus on things they are not good at. This further agonizes them in the exam centre. Hence, focus on the bright side and give it your best.

Time Allocation During the Exam

Learning time allocation during the exam is no less than an art. To ace this art, sample papers play a vital role. Once students practice enough sample papers before exams, they become habitual of proper time allocation during the exam.

Conclusion

In the end, students need to ensure that they are completely familiar with the exam syllabus and its difficulty level. This avoids any kind of last-minute confusion in the exam hall. Staying calm and focused is the ultimate success mantra in any competitive exam. This also helps students allocate their time with respect to the merit of questions. Now that your are all decked up, shun all the worries and give your best shot and come with flying colours!
